Picture Earth

September 11th will always be a day that will live in infamy in these modern times. Where were you on September 11th? You do not need to be a New Yorker to remember where you were on that day. Since I reside on the West Coast, I was pretty much asleep, but I did hear on the radio that morning about the event. When I took a look at NASA's Visible Earth photos, I was struck by the following picture from outer space showing the September 11 2001 World Trade Center Attack. Viewing the effect of the attack from outer space appears to me to be a unique out-of-body/out-of-Earth experience. The attack appear surreal, with a billowing cloud of smoke coming distinctly from the location of the Twin Towers. It certainly appeared larger-than-life from outer space.
